Early Life: Born in Papakura many years ago as one of ten children. I joined the Royal New Zealand Navy at 15 years old, and served for three years. I worked several labouring jobs, then joined the New Zealand Police at 19, completed a law degree and in 1981 resigned to practise law full time.
